Meet Daniel Schobben, co-founder and COO

Daniel Schobben was part of the advanced Philips spinout Sapiens. Now, he’s doing it all again as co-founder of Salvia BioElectronics, “where we started with nothing except a whiteboard.”
Salvia is more than just a passion project for co-founder and COO Daniel Schobben – it’s a mission.
Building a MedTech company dedicated to relieving the prolonged agony of migraine and doing so at an exceptional pace. In interview after interview, Salvia team members cite Daniel’s passion as one of the reasons they joined the company.
His epiphany as to the power of technology came when he was working with serial entrepreneur Sjaak Deckers at Sapiens, developing an implant for people with Parkinson's disease. Sjaak pulled up a YouTube video of Parkinson’s patients who received an implant. “They switch it on … and it’s like a miracle,” Daniel says. “The tremors stopped. Their faces relaxed. They stopped shaking and they could pour a cup of coffee.”
That’s the kind of miracle Daniel is working toward at Salvia.
Where Sapiens was a spin-off from Philips with prototypes, patents and preclinical work, at Salvia, “we started with nothing. We did know from previous studies that neurostimulation works for people with chronic migraine. “We said, ‘What we are going to do is miniaturize the entire system to something that is the size of my finger and as thin as paper.”
We only had a whiteboard. We are very proud of that, because we talked to patients and physicians first based on which we came up with the perfect solution … a paper-thin implant for people with migraine.”
Early in the game, Daniel imagined the day when the first patients would write letters to the team. “When we hired our first field clinical engineer, he said to me, ‘Oh, that will be sooner than you think.’” And he was right. The first Salvia implant was in May 2023, and the first letter of gratitude came in soon after that.
“We have thank you letters from patients that say, ‘Wow. You gave me back my life, literally ....’ For me, this is what I'm so passionate about. But you also see that in the team, I think, motivating people to work a little bit longer, give more attention to things, make sure everything is right … because everything that we do matters.”

Page Title (H1)
Header (H2)
A subheading or chapter heading (H3)
Introductory text or a first paragraph of information on this subject. Write as naturally as possible and be nice and specific. If necessary, use AI software to help you get started, but definitely don't use it one-on-one. Search engines can penalize AI content.
Subheading (H4)
Here too there is more than enough room for a good story, an interesting article or background information. If necessary, use a summary:
- a summary is clear
- one can see the benefits or features at a glance
- also use search terms if necessary
Another topic (H3)
Another subheading (H4)
Do not use a Title Header (H1), but use an H2 Header instead. An H1 is actually a title of the page and may only appear once on a web page. The H2 is a kind of chapter and the other headers (H3 to H6) are subheadings and subheadings within the chapter. The order is important for the readability of visitors and search engines.
- a summary is clear
- one can see the benefits or features at a glance
- also use search terms if necessary
This way everything remains easy to read and understandable for the reader. People can also scroll directly to the topic they are interested in.
Paragraph heading style (H5)
This is another example of a heading. The headings H5 and H6 are usually used as paragraph headings, each with their own style.
Paragraph heading style (H6)
In the editor you can really see a difference in font size of all headers, but on the live website they have their own style.
Other options
Use a "quote". That looks like this:
This is a quote!
You can also put texts in bold, italic, etc.
Of maak een link naar een andere pagina of website.
And finally, you can also create Superscript(1) and Subscript(2) text.
